If you’ve driven down highway 5, you can’t miss the construction of the new Walgreen store. It’s located on the corner of 284 and Hwy 5 and has been making quite a few advancements over the past few months.
The new Walgreens store won’t be open anytime soon, but at the rate they build business’ these days, a late spring or summer opening shouldn’t be that hard to meet.
I’m really not sure about the need for Walgreen’s. Nothing against them, but we are not exactly short of drug stores in Waconia.
Target will also be opening up this fall. That’s really all we really need at this point (unless Fleet Farm, Menard’s, Lowe’s, or Home Depot are looking to expand!).
I really wish the city would include a more user-friendly format to post new business notes on its website. Why it is so hard to find information- it would be great if there was a way to quickly and easily look up what new businesses are coming to town as well as a tentative opening date- short and simple. For example, I tried and tried to find out when the new hotel was going to open last fall- all I was told is “in the fall.” Someone, somewhere has to have a more accurate opening date for Walgreens besides just “late spring or summer.” I read the previous posting that Radio Shack was opening- anyone know for sure when it is opening? That is the kind of information I wish the city would post on its site!

Radio shack is open I saw an open sign in the window on2/7/08 . And Fleet Farm has land bought between Chaska and Cologne off of 212. At least that is what Ive been told by someone whos relatives owned the land down there and by a store represenative from Lakeville!
Holy cow! Fleet Farm is cool for reasons that even boggle my mind.
new walgreens? great. I wish there was a better way to get a job as a pharmacy tech other then online. no-one ever calls. I live just up the road from them.
