View From The Top of the Waconia Sledding Hill

Well it’s suppose to snow all weekend which means that the Waconia sledding hill will be ready to go come Monday. Being one of the biggest hills I’ve seen, I’d love to take a ride down it. Walking back up isn’t high on my list though.

Check out this view from the top of the hill.

D’Vincis Pizza and Pasta

D'Vincis Resturant

D’Vincis has always intrigued us but we never took the time to try it. So on Sunday I stopped in and got some great food to go.

We ordered pasta and it was very good. It also came with soup and garlic bread and we had plenty of leftovers. Other choices include pizza, fettuccine, ravioli, spaghetti, burgers and more. They didn’t have any take home menus available so I think that about covers it. ๐Ÿ™‚

You can do eat in, take out or get delivery. They even have a buffet and I think a Sunday brunch. I can’t believe we didn’t check it out sooner. Our first impression is that this is one great restaurant.

Good Burgers at Hoppers Bar & Grill

Hoppers Bar and Grill

I haven’t checked out all the bars in town because I stopped after Hoppers. It’s located next to the movie theater and it has some great burgers.

We were told by a friend to check them out and we are so glad we did. The burgers are big and delicious. You can even call ahead and get them to go. We often order them to go and then enjoy them while watching TV.

Granted you can also stay and have some drinks. It is a bar of course. ๐Ÿ™‚

They have other menu items too like fries, onion rings, chicken, walleye, cream cheese wantons and so much more. I’m hungry just thinking about it.

The atmosphere has always been nice and the service very friendly. Check them out, if even just for burgers.

Where is Caribou Coffee?

Caribou Coffee LogoIt seems that about a year ago or so my wife saw a ‘Now Hiring’ sign for Caribou Coffee. It was going to open up next to Great Clips in the same strip mall as Mackenthuns. Heck, even Yahoo Local has a listing up for the store that doesn’t exist.

So where is Caribou Coffee?

I have a new theory, I think a Caribou Coffee is going to open up in the new development on the corner of highway 5 and county road 30. One of the end lots has a drive though window and I know it’s not a bank as Kline Bank says they are coming in 2008 and I highly doubt they’ll be in a strip mall. Free standing building probably for security. So I think it’s going to be a drive though Caribou Coffee. I guess it could also be a Starbucks, Dunn Brothers or one of the other million possibilities. But I smell coffee for some reason. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Sports Stores – Football, Wrestling, Basketball, Volleyball, Golf & More

Sports fan in Waconia have at least two stores to get geared up at.ย  CDP Sports and The Sports Locker.

Both stores are located in downtown Waconia and should have everything you need for basketball, football, wrestling, volleyball, golf and much more.

I can’t say as I’ve been to either yet, but I would like to check them out.ย  I usually just don’t like to go and just browse so I need to find a good reason to swing by. ๐Ÿ˜‰

If you’ve been to either, let us know what you think.ย  If I’ve missed a store let me know.ย  I think there use to be a Sports Korner but for some reason, I feel as if they have gone away.

Tis the Christmas Season – Time for Lights!

Christmas LightsIt is almost that time (man has this month gone by fast) Christmas time!! Last night we toured around Waconia looking for great lights and there are plenty to be found. Including one house off 284 that has lights to music!

What houses in the area have you seen? Share address or general locations and we can all enjoy them. Or, post links to your photos below so we can check them out from the comfort of our homes.

Sledding Hill Waiting, Snow Missing.

SnowflakeThe the areas largest sliding hill which overlooks Lake Waconia is just waiting to open. However, the snow seems to be missing.

The hill, which looks massive from the road, will delight many this winter and it will also give one heck of a work out. It’s located at the corner of Highway 5 and County Road 30 and is part of the expanded Waconia Regional Park.

This year, the hill will not support any type of system to get you to the top, except your two feet. If the hill is a success, they will consider adding in some type of tow system to get riders back the top.

And don’t look for the hill to open on the first big snow. It still has to be tested for safety before opening to the general public. Lets just hope it snows soon so we can have some fun!!

Waconia Welcomes SuperTarget in 2008

Target LogoIt’s still a ways away, but SuperTarget is officially coming. The 177,000 square foot retail and grocery store will open up on the east side of town around July of 2008.ย  Not only will it bring a major ‘big box’ store to town, but it’ll also come with other, un-named, stores.ย  Most SuperTarget do have sister stores attached to the side so this isn’t much of a surprise however it will alter that small town appeal.

It’s bitter sweet and I don’t know how long my wife and I will stay after SuperTarget arrives.ย  What are your thoughts on SuperTarget coming to town?
